Potato Impact Partners

Potato Impact Partners (PIP) is an impact investor driving solutions to food security, climate action, and the resilience of coastal communities through investments in sustainable seaweed innovation. 

 

PIP is a subsidiary of Potato Productions, a group of social technology ventures in Singapore spanning design, media, publishing, film and entertainment, education, and healthcare.

Sarah Wan-Yau
Managing Director

Sarah leads and directs strategic impact investments and partnership initiatives, and leverages the assets and networks of Potato sister companies across the Asia-Pacific to elevate PIP’s work and impact globally. She is also a Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for 1000 Ocean Startups, the largest global ocean innovation network where she leads the Seaweed Discussion Group. Previously, Sarah served dual roles as Senior Advisor to Potato Productions and Representative for The Asia Foundation in Singapore, heading regional programs and initiatives across Southeast Asia. Prior to this, she served in leadership roles at The Asia Foundation in board and organizational strategy and development; public-private partnerships and fundraising; and program initiatives in women's empowerment, environmental sustainability, governance and regional cooperation across Asia. Sarah lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two kids, and enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and hosting themed parties.

Bernice Tang
Director, Impact Investments & Strategy

Bernice leads impact strategy and management, integrating and tracking impact across all pillars of work. She is passionate about supporting PIP’s portfolio startups to maximize their impact, as well as engagement and advocacy to grow the seaweed impact investing ecosystem. Prior to joining PIP, she worked in deal sourcing, startup investment research, and financial journalism, including co-founding CompassList, a startup research database and media platform. Bernice is a ballet and history buff, and loves hiking and going to concerts. She splits her time between Singapore and Madrid.

Tessa Charupatanapongse
Investment Lead

Tessa leads deal sourcing and due diligence and drives ecosystem building within the sustainable seaweed aquaculture value chain. She's worked at the intersection of social impact, gender, mental health, and startups, having experience as a founder herself, and having worked for a gender lens VC and a women and technology startup competition. Prior to impact investing, Tessa worked in international development and holds a M.S.Ed from the University of Pennsylvania. She is an avid reader, writer, language learner, semi-colon enthusiast, aspiring water sommelier, and globe trotter who has lived in the US, Singapore, Thailand, and London.

Linda Tran
Communications and Operations Coordinator

Linda leads our communications and operations, spreading the word about the impact of seaweed innovation and ensuring seamless communication between our team and our partners. She is passionate about engaging in social impact marketing and community building to drive forward our investment work and support coastal seaweed farming communities. Prior to this, Linda graduated from UCLA with an English Literature B.A. and minors in Professional Writing and Digital Humanities. She has served in various writing and marketing roles with the goal of using the written word as a medium to create positive social change. In her free time, she loves to read and write stories of all creative forms, drive her family and friends around SoCal, and indulge in cuteness aggression over birds.
